Fanta and Beetlejuice join forces for Halloween​

Fanta and Beetlejuice? Is the marketing mix a recipe for sweet success... or bitter blowout?

Fanta has enlisted the help of the Beetlejuice character to launch its new flavor ahead of the release of the sequel to the iconic film. This campaign, which utilizes QR codes, could generate additional sales for the soft drink brand owned by Coca-Cola. The “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” drink contains QR codes to enter experiences such as a movie ticket raffle. Details of the experiences will be revealed later, and the campaign will include virtual and physical activations. The campaign was created by WPP Open X in collaboration with Ogilvy.

Warner Bros. has promoted the sequel to the Beetlejuice movie by also launching a new experience on Roblox where users can buy movie tickets from a virtual ticket kiosk. The Beetlejuice-flavored Fanta pack features the movie’s memorable character in a black and white striped outfit.

As Halloween approaches, Fanta aims to capture a larger share of the festive market by introducing a new slogan, ‘Summon What You Wanta’, which encourages consumers to celebrate in their own way. This builds on the relaunch of the Fanta brand, which revived the iconic ‘Wanta Fanta’ campaign in April.

Last year, Coca-Cola renewed the Fanta brand and launched an integrated marketing campaign in North America. The company’s results exceeded expectations, while competitor PepsiCo faced challenges in the US market.
